This time, the SpaceWatch.Global series Space Café “33 minutes with..” is broadcasting live from the IAC in Milan. Publisher, Torsten Kriening and Editor in Chief, Dr Emma Gatti meet interesting guests at the event in their magazine format and discusses current topics with them live.

Dr. AnkeAnke Pagels-Kerp from DLR discussed the DLR space strategy, highlighting key areas such as Earth observation, space transportation, robotics, and space exploration. DLR employs 4,500 of its 11,000 staff in space-related research across Germany. Key projects include developing robotic arms for satellite maintenance, a CO2 imaging satellite with 100m resolution, and a lunar facility in Cologne. DLR is also involved in the Artemis mission and collaborates with international partners like JAXA and NASA. Future goals include robotic arms for in-orbit operations, European reusable launchers, and advanced sensor technologies using quantum technologies.
