Dr. AnkeAnke Pagels-Kerp from DLR discussed the DLR space strategy, highlighting key areas such as Earth observation, space transportation, robotics, and space exploration. DLR employs 4,500 of its 11,000 staff in space-related research across Germany. Key projects include developing robotic arms for satellite maintenance, a CO2 imaging satellite with 100m resolution, and a lunar facility in Cologne. DLR is also involved in the Artemis mission and collaborates with international partners like JAXA and NASA. Future goals include robotic arms for in-orbit operations, European reusable launchers, and advanced sensor technologies using quantum technologies.
