Ibadan, 8 August 2024. – HyImpulse Technologies and Spacemanic CZ s.r.o. have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on launch services. Under this MoU, HyImpulse and Spacemanic will prepare and enter into launch contracts for up to 10 orbital missions from 2026 to 2036. This collaboration also includes utilizing HyImpulse’s Small Launcher 1 (SL1) for orbital services and the SR75 vehicle for suborbital technology demonstration missions.
Consequently, HyImpulse will provide comprehensive launch services, including payload integration and pre-flight activities, ensuring the successful deployment of Spacemanic’s payloads into designated orbits. For the companies, the partnership marks a significant step towards advancing access to space, demonstrating their commitment to innovation and excellence in the aerospace sector.
Earlier this year in May, the German launch Company successfully launched its SR75 rocket from Southern Launch’s Koonibba Test Range in a milestone achievement for commercial launch capabilities in Australia. The launch was the first from the new permanent facilities at the Koonibba Test Range which Southern Launch developed in partnership with the Koonibba Community Aboriginal Corporation.
The SR75-1 ‘Light this Candle!’ mission was the inaugural launch attempt of HyImpulse’s SR75 rocket, marking a step forward for the Company as it continues developing its hybrid rocket engines. SR75 leverages a new propulsion concept from Hyimpulse, utilizing solid paraffin and liquid oxygen as fuel. Paraffin, being both cost-effective and inherently safe as a fuel, serves as an alternative to conventional liquid or solid fuels and has much less explosive capability.
This design simplifies the construction of launch vehicles, cutting costs by 40% compared to traditional propulsion systems. This consequently reduces satellite transportation expenses by 50%, demonstrating HyImpulse’s commitment to affordable access to space.
