The Arab Satellite Communications Organization – Arabsat – is holding its Board of Directors meeting in, Muscat, Sultanate of Oman, on April 11-12, 2017 , followed by the General Assembly meeting with the attendance of their excellencies the Arab ministers of telecommunications and the heads of Arab delegations.
Engineer Khalid Balkheyour, President and CEO of Arabsat, said that the meetings of the board and the General Assembly in Muscat will discuss a number of important topics such as the Board’s annual report, selection of new members to join the Board of Directors, approval of Arabsat’s final financial account report for 2016, in addition to many other important subjects that support Arabsat’s future vision and strengthens cooperation between the Arab members.
Balkhyour added that, “The meetings in Muscat will begin with Arabsat Board of Directors meeting, which will be held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel Muscat today and tomorrow. The meeting will be attended by the Deputy Telecommunications Ministers and the Executive Heads of Arabsat Board of Directors , Headed by His Excellency Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Salem Al Futtaisi, Minister of Transport and Telecommunications of Sultanate of Oman. The Minister of Culture and Information of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will deliver a speech to transfer the heading of this session of meetings to Sultanate of Oman.”
The board of Directors of Arabsat is composed of nine countries: Sultanate of Oman, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Libya, Sudan, Algeria, and Djibouti.
The Arabsat Chief Executive Officer confirmed that the company is finalizing preparation of the launch of its first 6th generation satellite, scheduled to be launch by mid-2017.
