The Moon Village Association recently created the Benefit Sharing Project to consider the sharing of benefits from the exploration and use of outer space. Following its initial meeting, there was a recommendation that “we should make explicit the need to figure out how to handle commercial confidentiality.”

The third edition of Space Café Austria focused on a topic, that has been more and more discussed ever since the Artemis Accords have come into play: The protection of space heritage and our shared space history. Host Judith Delany spoke with Dr. Christian Klösch of the Technical Museum in Vienna, giving a unique insight not just into Austrian Space history, but into the importance of history in general. Dr. Klösch, who studied history and astronomy, has been with the Vienna Museum of Technology (TMW) since 2009.

ADS (the UK trade association for aerospace, defence, security, and space organisations), published a new Space Sector Outlook yesterday providing an overview of the UK space sector and its growing contribution to the country’s economy. The outlook has been produced with the help of UKspace and support from the UK Space Agency.

Joint Doctrine Publication (JDP) 0-40, UK Space Power (First Edition), provides an overview of space from a UK military context and highlights the importance of space as an operational domain, said the UK Ministry Defence. The UK’s keystone space doctrine publication brings together the principles guiding space operations, government policy, strategy, higher-level doctrine

In the latest (10th) Space Café “Law Breakfast with Steven Freeland”, host Steven Freeland, Emeritus Professor of International Law at Western Sydney University, Sydney and Professorial Fellow at Bond University, Australia, and Co-Host Torsten Kriening, SpaceWatch.Global’s Publisher, welcomed Annie Handmer and Christopher Johnson at a wonderful breakfast discussion in Washington D.C.’s best bagel café.

The word “solaris”, which until recently evoked a 1972 Soviet science-fiction movie directed by Andrey Tarkovsky, is taking on new meaning. “SOLARIS” is now a proposal for a preparatory program of technology research & development envisioned by the European Space Agency (ESA) to tackle the techno-economic feasibility of space-based solar power (SBSP).

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) issued a warning to its 193 Member States on the harmful interference such as blocking, jamming or serious degradation of radio-wave-based services.  ITU defines harmful interference as a radio system receiving unwanted energy to an extent that inhibits the functioning of a radio-navigation service.

The Space Studies Program (SSP) of ISU is since 1988 a unique intensive nine-week course hosted each year where participants learn about all facets of space. The SSP provides courses in all space disciplines, as well as hands-on education through workshops and professional visits.
