The first of seven global European Space Agency (ESA) Investor Events in 2022 took place on 16th and 17th of May in Berlin, Germany. These exclusive events enable investors, venture capitalists and fund organizations to explore the best deals in the New Space economy. The event provided a stage for startups to showcase their innovative ideas and to show how they generate funding.

The UAE has been chosen to lead the United Nation’s Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS) committee with Omran Sharaf Emirati engineer serving as director of COPUOS in 2022 and 2023, the UAE reported.  COPUOS has 100 member states and has been in operation since 1959.

Space company Sierra Space, and aerostructures manufacturer Spirit AeroSystems, announced a long-term strategic partnership to lower the cost of access to space and to accelerate the production of the Shooting Star cargo modules for the Dream Chaser spaceplane.

Our second day ended in a bustling rooftop bar in Lisbon, overlooking the city, the Castle of Sao Jorge on full display. Spacetech startup Warpspace, and high powered Edge computing company OrbitsEdge, signed a mutual Letter of Intent to explore the opportunities for collaboration to become space big data facilitators by combining optical communication with edge-computing technology. 

NASA selected Axiom Space and Collins Aerospace to provide astronauts with next generation spacesuit and spacewalk system capabilities in low Earth orbit and on the Moon as well as future human missions to Mars, the Agency said. The arrangement allows for NASA expertise to be paired with commercial innovation to support continued science in the space environment.
