Doge-1 Moon mission paid to SpaceX in Dogecoins

The Canadian Geometric Energy Corporation (GEC) will launch DOGE-1, “the first-ever commercial lunar payload" paid entirely with the cryptocurrency Dogecoin, to the Moon aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket, the company said. GSC will collaborate with SpaceX to launch a 40kg cubesat as a rideshare on a Falcon 9 lunar payload mission in Q1 2022, the company said.

OQ and NanoAvionics extend nanosat cooperation to Tiger-2

The Lithuanian smallsat bus manufacturer and mission integrator NanoAvionics partners with the IoT startup OQ Technology to build, integrate and operate a nanosatellite for the 5G IoT mission named Tiger-2. The satellite is scheduled to be launched this year, the companies said.

OneWeb acquires the Texas-based TrustComm “to offer its Low Earth Orbit (LEO) network and connectivity services to U.S. government clients and TrustComm customers”, the company said. NASA and Axiom disclose details on private ISS mission

NASA and the space startup Axiom Space will detail the first private astronaut mission to the International Space Station (ISS) today, the U.S. space agency said. The spaceflight, named Axiom Mission 1 (Ax-1), is scheduled to launch no earlier than January 2022 for an eight-day mission aboard the orbiting complex.

Sateliot leads Spanish IoT nanosat consortium

The Spanish satellite telecommunications operator Sateliot takes the lead to develop a low Earth orbit (LEO) nanosatellite constellation offering 5G coverage and a secure quantum key information exchange system. Sateliot is leading a consortium of a dozen companies and the Spanish Ministry of Defense, as a potential user, to deploy the nanosat constellation, the company said.
