Astroscale halts debris removal demonstration

Astroscale recently announced that they have begun their End-of-Life Services by Astroscale-demonstration (ELSA-d) debris removal mission’s next phase but after detecting anomalous spacecraft conditions, the team decided to abort the mission. During the autonomous capture demonstration in orbit, the ELSA-d servicer spacecraft successfully released its client spacecraft.

Virgin Orbit to launch Sultanate of Oman into deep space

The Sultanate of Oman, Virgin Orbit, small satellite manufacturer and operator SatRevolution, AI data analytics specialists TUATARA, and technology innovator ETCO, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on Oman’s first mission to deep space. The consortium will also deliver additional small satellites to Low Earth Orbit (LEO), including the first in Oman’s history.

China confirms building Moon base with Russia by 2035

The China National Space Administration (CNSA) has confirmed the country will be joining forces with Russia to build a research Moon base by 2035. The station will rival NASA's Lunar Gateway. Russia and China announced the project in June last year, after signing an intergovernmental memorandum of understanding in March 2021.
