Aschbacher obtains 16.9 billion for ESA to cover next 3 years activities

On the conclusion of the second day of ESA's Ministerial Council, held in Paris o the 22 and 23 of November 2022, Josef Aschbacher, ESA's Director General, together with French Minister Bruno Le Maire, announces a new budget for ESA amounting to 16.9 billion euro, 17% increase from 2019. Aschbacher initially asked for 18 billion, to forefront the challenges ESA is facing to detach from Russia dependency and develop a sovereign launching system.

British satellite operator Satellite Vu, has signed a multimillion pound purchase option with Japanese satellite remote sensing commercial services provider Japan Space Imaging Corporation (JSI), following the opening of Satellite Vu’s Early Access Option Programme (EAOP), the company said.

Norway Announces Plan to Launch Maritime Surveillance Constellation

Norway has announced plans to launch a satellite constellation in collaboration with the European Space Agency (ESA) to provide continuous real-time maritime surveillance. The announcement came during the ESA Ministerial Council in Paris, France. The Norwegian Minister, who made the disclosure, revealed that Space Norway will launch two communications satellites to provide broadband in the arctic region in the meantime.
