This Space Café WebTalk will feature Markus Fritz, owner and Managing Director of ADVISORIO, in conversation with Torsten Kriening, publisher of SpaceWatch.Global.

“Mobility and Space” – is Europe too late to win the Race?”

Connected vehicles such as connected ships, planes, trains, trucks, and autonomous cars have many potential benefits to society, including higher use value, improved safety, and reduced environmental impact, but there are also technical, regulatory, and commercial challenges to overcome before they can be globally deployed and used routinely.

The combination of terrestrial and satellite infrastructure into a hybrid seamless, performant, and reliable connectivity network is key for such vehicles – they must be able to send and receive information on location and direction, on flight and shipping routes or road layouts and obstacles instantly, regardless of the vehicle location, to navigate safely and most efficiently.

The interview is going to cover the current state of technology and outlines the current challenges, future opportunities, and main use case for mobile SatCom solutions. It will also highlight success-critical building blocks for the global implementation of a hybrid terrestrial and non-terrestrial mobile connectivity network, leveraging different satellite segments such as GEOs, MEOs, and LEOs, enabling a broad portfolio of new value-added downstream services and opportunities – from narrowband to broadband. The talk will also cover what will be needed for Europe and European industry players to stay competitive in the global race for mobile seamless and ubiquitous connectivity.

#SpaceWatchGL Opinion: 10 iconic marketing campaigns in Space

Marketing in outer space seems like an innovative idea, but it has 60+ years of history. Dr. Wernher von Braun, former Marshall Space Flight Center Director, pointed out on July 22, 1969: "Because without public relations we would have been unable to do it". Today, accelerated access to space provides unprecedented opportunities for #advertising stunts and viral marketing. Some campaigns raise ethical, environmental, and regulatory concerns, while others champion sustainability.
